When it comes to a straight forward games shootout between the two processors,
the 3.7GHz Extreme Edition is, as you might expect the outright winner
due to pure grunt. However when it comes to playing a game with other
applications running in the background a different picture emerges.
Despite its HT technology, the 3.7GHz EE takes a real hit in frame rate
when running FarCry with a application running in the background (in
this case an encryption test), but the 3.2GHz EE 880 shows the benefit
of its dual core architecture by taking less of a hit in frame rate,
and out performing its bigger sibling.
For example if you get bored whilst encoding your latest home movie
- you can play a game to keep you entertained without sacrificing to
much performance in either application.
